Chapter 9 – Friendship
Friendships and love grow in the camp and make life easier to bear. Strong relations are built and the sorrow of saying goodbye to a friend is great.

About "Friendship" (8:50 min.)
Birgit, Bjørn, Jytte, Poul, Rachel and Salle develop close ties with other children and youngsters with many nationalities, languages and ages. These friendships grow and help to make the unbearable more bearable. In this part of the film, we learn about Jytte’s Czech friend Jirko and the Austrian handyman, Walter, who becomes Rachel’s friend. In different ways, these friendships help the children cope with daily life in Theresienstadt.
